A Note from Your Publisher

July 19, 2019

Summer vacation is in full swing! Have you run out of things to do yet? One of the hardest things for me to do when my kids were little was to find a balance between structure and spontaneity. To be honest, structure has never been my strong point, so when I read Jennifer Hill's article on how to Structure Summer Days to Keep Away the "I'm Bored" Blues, I was blown away! Routines and clear expectations can be very comforting. Endless free time and lack of structure during the summer can be unsettling to children and adults alike. Do you have a system to keep your kids on task? We'd love to hear about it. You can message us on our Facebook Page or email me at sandrao@macaronikid.com.

Been on a date recently? Whether it's a night out with your partner or girls night our, it's important to make time for the adults in your life. Being around little ones all day can be stressful and isolating. So can spending a full day at work and then rushing home to get dinner ready before tagging in the babysitter for the evening. It's easy to get in a date night rut. Dinner and a movie can be fun but if you're looking for something different, check out our article on 10 Date Night (or Girls Night Out) Ideas to Try and look for new Date Night events on the calendar.

And while you're browsing the calendar this month, be sure to look ahead to upcoming events in September/October and add them to your personal calendar now. And if you or your friends are teachers who use Donor's Choose or a similar crowdfunding site, please let me know. We'd love to share your projects with our families this Fall.

Aloha,

Sandra
