Happy Thanksgiving! Celebrating Gratitude and Peace in a World Turned Upside Down

By Sandra Ozaki, Publisher Macaroni Kid North Little Rock, Arkansas November 26, 2020

Hello Friends!

Today as we gather around the table for our Thanksgiving meal, I can't help but think of how we have had to adapt to so many changes over the past eight months or so. It can be easy to let the reality and weight of the world intrude on our family time but I hope you will instead make a conscious effort to focus on the good rather than the bad.

Enjoy the hugs and smiles of your immediate family. Share all your funny childhood adventures with your kids. Spill some tea, eat all the pie, and for goodness sake, take a nap! Get outside in the fresh air and play hide and seek. Or if the weather isn't cooperating, play find the socks. This one is great for the toddler to PreK ages. Simply take bright colored socks and partially hide them in seat cushions, under sofas, pretty much anywhere the little knee-high wonders can reach. Then sing to the tune of "I'm Going on a Bear Hunt" and go find those socks!

Laugh and giggle, play board games and cards, just savor being together. Because at the end of the day, that human connection with friends and family is irreplaceable. Whatever trouble (or Black Friday challenges) you may face tomorrow, let today be that day we seek joy, share our love, and live in the moment.

Until next week, Happy Thanksgiving from our ohana to yours!

Aloha,

Sandra
