Mom Guilt is Over, It's Time to Let It Go

Take a step back from mom guilt...

Mom Guilt... it’s a real-life thing! No matter if you are a stay at home mom, work from home mom, or work away from home mom; mom guilt is real and we all experience it.

Here’s my most recent mom guilt moment:

I am blessed that every other Monday my amazingly sweet mother-in-law comes over and watches my youngest for me. On these days I always make big “to do” work plans, this kind of uninterrupted time ONLY happens once every other week (when she is here ). I had a big video editing project I needed to get completed, so I was in my home office with the door shut from early morning to just after 6 pm. I luckily had just enough time to finish the project for my client, then dinner had to be cooked and kids to be bathed and bed. While I was always feeling really accomplished on those days, I also really struggle the Tuesday after. I feel like I am on a roll with work and should keep the momentum going, however, I also feel AWFUL about “ignoring” Dawson (my youngest). So it never fails, on Tuesday I spend the entire day playing, cuddling, and all things Dawson. 🥰

I feel mom guilt on Monday for not spending time with him and the stress on Tuesday that I am not getting any work done. I need to balance, right? Well, the truth is I need those uninterrupted work hours and I also need my cuddle time. So what I really need to do is STOP feeling guilty about A) working and B) cuddle & playtime.

Truth is, we have to work to provide for our families and we also need to embrace every moment we can as parents because these days will be gone before we know it! So what do we do? Mom guilt is real, and most likely not going anywhere anytime soon. Let’s give ourselves the break we deserve! We are great momma’s that LOVE our kids (which is why we have mom guilt in the first place) and we are also awesome boss babes (which is the other source of stress).

Give yourself a break, embrace all the wonderful family time, and keep your work paced to avoid stress.
